CONCEPT OF ORGANIZATION OF SUMMER SCHOOL "Gender Studies: possibilities for new political anthropology in the former USSR" October, 18-31, 2009, Foros, the Crimea, Ukraine The school assumes an attempt of two theoretical innovations in its conceptual history (13 years) oriented against traditional principle of extensive development of the discipline, rested upon the principle of “supplementarity” (principle of formal institutional “integration” of gender thematic into the post-Soviet social sciences): 1) to create a dialogue as a dissensus between two main generations of gender studies researchers from the post-Soviet space; and 2) to include intellectual leaders from other fields of post-Soviet intellectual activities into the development of the discipline. The political effect of the School is in principle non-formal political event/network of common, lively, free though dissensial community of gender researchers from Russia and other CIS states and not an à politically formal and ineffective post-communist structure which follows Soviet hierarchically organized academia. Stake on the younger generation lies in the principle of school organization, therefore the following formal principles of the organization of the 13th International School in Gender studies play the main role:1. The priority is given to those young researchers who continue, modify and transform the discipline in their regions;2. The tradition to invite leading intellectual leaders from other social disciplines from the region is to be continued;3. The criterion of the political at the selection process is understood in the Foucaultian sense as a transformation of existing microphysics of power in the former USSR on the basis of the discipline of Gender Studies;4. The members of the jury will consist of the Professors of the School;5. The priority is given to those participants who have already participated in the School in Foros (to avoid simple extensivity). Such concept of the School stands against methodological homogeneity in the discipline, and thus, against segmental, formal, hierarchical and closed principles of functioning of gender research community in the former USSR.On the 20th July 2009 the submission of application for the 13th International School on Gender Studies Gender Studies: possibilities for new political anthropology in the former USSR (October, 18-31, 2009, Foros, Ukraine). We have received 58 applications. All the applications are posted in the special web site accessible to the professors of the School, who will decide on 17 participants out of 58 applicants.
